I have been coaching the kids at HBU.
After all these months, I finally can see development on each Individual and I start to see some collective development as well.
All, still need a lot to be close to what I really want from them as Roller hockey Players and as a Team, but there are signs of moving forward, despite some not so good aspects from all kids in a way or another.
The frustration is that there aren't matches.
Only competition will give these kids any chance of becoming good players and good team.
Without competition I feel we are not going anywhere and in time we will loose kids to other sports.
Before anyone comments, I would like to add that I am not criticising anyone or anything, just stating my frustration in shame.
There is so much and varied talent at HBU that's will be a shame if we loose them to other sports.
Unless the Club join forces with HB and EG and at least have a fortnightly matches on U13 and U15 ( or all together), these will gradually disappear. But a proper Championship, not a bib tournament. Play 3 or 4 times each team, who cares. Matches are needed. Then add the National Cup and anything the NRHA may have.
If that doesnt happen next season, even HBU will have his days counted.
Having for the kids what we had this season isn't enough. _________________ for Roller Hockey issues you may call me on 07850593239 |

i completely understand the frustration as long as we are all happy to travel
2/3 years ago we had a great under 15/13 team in the south but due to the distance plymoth was too far for some teams and therefore it did not happen
hopefully this can change ????? |

Something needs to be done NOW to be ready for next season regarding U17 all competitions. If we dont do it, next season there will be no competitions. The year after RH will not exist in the South, except for a few at HB.
We need an emergency plan NOW.
We cannot held a U11, U13, U15, U17 tournament.
So why not just do a U17 and U13 and even allow U13 to play vs U17s.
If people doeant want to travel as far as Plymouth then we have to meet half way - Farnham, EG to play these Clubs and Plymouth.
With U17 and U13 only the players of the Region can have at least a match per month. Some 2 matches if the play on the age group above.
Forget about the pros and the contras. IF WE DONT DO IT NEXT SEASON, thats the end of it within 2 years and the end of HBU within 5 years as we know it today.
I suggest the Clubs to meet. Bringing to the table ideas how we are going to do it. There are players at HBU, HB, Invicta, EG, Farnham and Plymouth.
Can we have competitions for U17 and U13? We can if we all want.
If there is interest in meeting then I can chair and take some responsibilities. I can even offer a drink to all, but in Maidstone. I dont mind to travel to Farnham tho, if it is easier to Plymouth and HB clubs.
WE can even just do a divison for all U17. Playing U13 with U17 doesnt cause any harm. It is an Emergency. _________________ for Roller Hockey issues you may call me on 07850593239 |

we are prepared to travel in plymouth, and would be prepared to enter a league. as long as we have a commitment off all teams that they will turn up !!
i remember a call off chris graf to me telling me his team wouldnt be coming because my team werent good enough for his team to play !! he was having trouble to motivate his team to travel.
This is a huge mistake as im sure anyone who has been in roller hockey for a few years will see teams lose one year, then as they develop they begin to win games !!
i would like to talk about this league working but only if ALL teams commit from the start til the end of the season. |

I think it was above all unkind to tell your team wasn't good enough. His teams certainly are and actually there are very few decent teams of kids in England if we compare with the best.
What I am suggesting is that we perhaps can play our leagues more central to all. But play.....
We need to sit down agree in stuff and then action. I think we can find a formula that minimises travelling and maximises matches:
Herne Bay Clubs don't need to travel to play each other nor this makes sense. EG vs Farnham is relative easy also.
We have to meet centrally to held matches between HB Clubs and Plymouth also to held matches between Farnham and EG and Plymouth. This perhaps at Farnham or EG.
So we avoid HB traveling to Plymouth and virses versa. But Plymouth and HB Clubs must hold a tournament with the closer clubs.
I think this is the solution once we meet and know whos is entering.
I know HBU has 2 teams to enter a U17 competition. 2 to enter a U15 competition and 2 to enter a U13s.
We need to play somehow. We need to have 2 tournaments during the season: a pre-xrmas and a pos-xrmas. _________________ for Roller Hockey issues you may call me on 07850593239 |
